Not anti-gun, anti-stupid

August 19th 2009 18:36
First, although I feel that strict gun registration is necessary, and believe (contrary to the U.S. Supreme Court) that the right to bear arms is a collective right and only as part of a “well regulated militia”, the people who have been attending town hall meetings at which the president is appearing, displaying weapons of all shapes and sizes, including multi-firing assault guns, have a legal right to do so, if in accordance with applicable state laws. They have the legal right to have loaded weapons at or outside of such forums; they are incredibly stupid to do so.

We have, in this country, a horrible history of presidents being threatened, shot at and killed. I would assume that the rate of assaults against presidents is far higher than that of the average person. Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States. Fifteen of the 44 have been assassinated, shot and wounded, or been the object of an assault by someone or a group with a grudge and a gun

The Betweeners

My Generation: The Betweeners

A few days ago, according to the evening news, was the fortieth anniversary of something occurring in an alfalfa field in Woodstock, New York, that had an overwhelming transformation of the country. I'm not all that certain if that is a fact but I do know that I wasn't affected. Sarah Palin: Proof that US schools are no better than our health care system

Every person who expresses opinions based on rational thought, from the Left or the Right, has to be grateful to Mrs. Palin, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage and the others who have brought political and social discourse to the level of Looney-Tunes cartoons, those silly and funny films that used to accompany the advertised motion picture. The reason is that, if one can strip away the racism that is the essential reason for the break from reality, all of these jokers are really funny and fodder aplenty for commentary. Late night television will have jokes, at their expense, for quite

I am finishing a post on Mrs. Palin, essentially suggesting that she has become a victim of the scare tactics employed by GOP spokespersons who are smarter than she.

In doing the research, I came across a cartoon that I had to share. Just couldn't wait

The Gates-Crowley confrontation

August 3rd 2009 17:40
Another view of the Gates-Crowley matter: nothing to do with racism.

Far too much has been written about the confrontation between Harvard’s Henry Louis Gates and Sgt. James Crowley of the Cambridge, Massachusetts, police. In all of the discussion, an important Constitutional issue is being totally ignored
