Our individual views are not and will not be in sync and that is how it should be. One promise that we both make is that there will be no ad hominem attacks, no name-calling. We can and will disagree with the political or social policies of public figures, of either party without calling the individual’s patriotism into question.



As to waterboarding, my opinion has vacillated. On the one hand, if the facts are that the relevant intelligence could be and was obtained by the time the waterboarding was instituted and that the purpose of the technique was to obtain information linking al Qaeda with Iraq so as to justify and validate the political aims of President Bush and the neo-cons, then the practice was inexcusable. On the other hand, if it were the case that a terrorist attack against this country was thwarted, then I might feel otherwise,


So far, the evidence supports the former.


I think we all will have to wait for further information – at least I will.


Anyway, a warm welcome to Nevar; I wish him well.
