Jessie's comments about Obama
July 12th 2008 01:31
Jessie Jackson’s comments about wanting to cut off Obama’s um unmentionables at first amused me. Ok well it still amuses me. But it is good news for McCain if there is that much dissension in the Democratic camp.
If you have been under a rock of late here is what happened, Jessie Jackson made the comments while off air in a Fox news interview. But the microphone was still recording and it of course got out.
Jessie Jackson said that Obama was talking down to black people and he wanted to cut his unmentionables off. Now I always got the impression that Obama talks down to everybody. I am glad to see Jackson pick up on that and comment on it.
I do wonder how much is sour grapes that Obama is where Jackson oh so badly wanted to be. But Jessie Jackson’s time is in the past and Obama has stolen his thunder. I also think Jackson fully intended for his comments to get out. Why else would he say that while wearing a microphone?
We all know Jackson loves the limelight and he bought a heap of it with those comments. Plus he can still influence the older black voters, so Obama at least publicly needs to placate Jackson as much as he can. If this blows up (I don’t think it will) McCain could get some votes from people who support Jackson.
I for one wish Fox would bring back those celebrity boxing matches and let Jackson and Obama duke it out. Jackson would beat the snot out of him. I can just see Hilary Clinton running out of the crowd and attacking them both with a steel chair ala WWE. She could then declare herself the candidate as “she” would be the last man standing.
