In support of Michelle Obama's Anti American Comments

July 21st 2008 16:25
Some conservatives are all hot and bothered at Michelle Obama’s anti America comments. She is constantly being ripped on talk radio, and in what little there is of conservative press.

Not me though I welcome her honesty and find it refreshing, in an age of guarded talk among those in the political spotlight. Of course Michelle Obama and her Husband back pedal a bit from some of the comments to quiet the storm of outrage.

So what if she is a Harvard Graduate and is rich beyond most of our dreams in America? She has never been proud of this country until it looks like she and her Husband have a shot at the White House. Misguided as she is, at least she is honest about her dislike of the United States.

And the Liberals love that sort of thing anyway, like when Obama made the comments about people clinging to their guns and bibles. The Obama’s are getting more votes by being anti American than for being patriotic.

But conservatives should not be angered by Michelle Obama’s anti Americanism, we should be glad she is honest about it. It shows us how she really thinks and when she is supported by other Americans, it shows us what we are facing in this country. There are still some American voters on the fence, and the more she talks the more votes go against Obama.

But again I welcome honesty in anyone especially in the public spotlight. And face it if the Obama’s loved America they would not be so much for Change in the first place. So please keep being honest Michelle Obama, McCain needs the votes you give him.

I wish she and Obama would just keep talking, but it seems that she has went into hiding, maybe someone has told her to keep quiet for awhile.

I'm not a big lover of the Obama candidacy and won't vote for him, but if you're referring to the Wisconsin speech in which Mrs. Obama spoke about being proud of being American for the first time, I can't help wondering if you're not taking this out of context.

I happened to catch that speech and it barely move an inch on my "bs detector." Not that I can't recognize it when I hear it, nor when I read it. And while it wasn't the brightest thing she could've said or the best way to say how much prouder she is, it wasn't anything at all like what so many (gotcha) conservative pundits and bloggers want to make it out to be. And, whom, are they trying to impress by beating on a dead horse issue -- that's right -- a dead horse issue that was discussed back in winter and here these guys are whipping it up again.

SInce most conservative columnists happen to be white, myself included, I want to put a test to them: did you ever, and I mean ever, give thought to where she's coming from given our history with slavery? Some of my Irish ancestors didn't come over on much better, but they weren't slave ships.

I'm not excusing a poor choice of words, but I think we ought to just cut her a little slack on this issue and hammer away on the bigger issues such as her husband's shortsighted notions about Iraq, his open support of the far -reaching, almost imperial reach of the so-called Freedom of Choice Act that'll effectively end all pro -life activities to overturn Roe, and some of the Big O's tax ideas.

Let's leave Willie Horton in the past. And this beating the dead horse of the Wisconsin speech is just petty, wasteful and accomplishes nothing.

Besides, any damn time the GOP wants to demonstrate how really patriotic it can be, it can start by throwing out its own characters, most notably Grover-Jihad's Chief Lobbyist-Norquist. And then it can go after every damn fat cat republican who holds bank accounts in-off shore banks, and outsourced American jobs overseas -- or even took pride in outsourcing our jobs to sweatshop setups on American soil, Saipan. Remember your former House Majority Leader, that guy who made all Americans proud by getting arrested and having the chutzpah to smile for his mugshot -- and for what? Public corruption. And what he say every so glowingly about those sweatshop conditions in Saipan (which was a golfing junket as well) -- Well, it was a "petrie-dish" of our economic system at work.

I love the title of one of your posts, the one dealing with your pride of McCain's campaign "for avoiding negative campaiging." Why should he. He's got folks like you to do his dirty work.
