Why I may vote Democrat in the North Carolina Governor's Race
October 11th 2008 16:29
The North Carolina race for Governor is an interesting one this year and I may even vote for Democrat Bev Perdue despite my very conservative leanings. I am still undecided at this time however.
I really like Perdue’s stance on education and the fact that she is a former teacher. As someone with 4 kids I like someone strong on education in North Carolina. She wants to ensure that no kid is left out of college due to finances. Of course North Carolina tax payers would be picking up the tab. But education is one thing I don’t mind my taxes going to pay for.
On Crime Bev wants to add more judges and clerks and such in the court system, which would speed up the courts. And despite being a Democrat she wants to (gasp) make harsher penalties for gun and drug crimes according to her website.
I also like her take on offshore oil drilling. She wants to make oil companies use the oil gained here for here. She does not want American oil sold to foreign countries and that makes sense to me.
Her main opponent is Charlotte Mayor who is a Republican. He has been accused of only having Charlotte’s interest at heart if he becomes Governor of North Carolina. I still may vote for him simply because he is not a Liberal but I do like Bev Purdue.

Political Certainty
From the headline, however, I thought I had you come all the way to Democrats, you know those low-life, Godless, dishonorable, lying creatures. Alas I haven’t worked by wiles on you – but I intend to keep trying!
Nice job.
