Palin will draw the stay at home voters

August 31st 2008 02:53
Palin
Our next Vice President
Sarah Palin, I think is a good choice for John McCain as his running mate in the Presidential Election. Jim Stillman contends that this will only strengthen conservative support that McCain already has.

I think that Palin will actually get those conservative voters to actually go vote. From the get go McCain was painted as a Liberal by Conservative Radio. No those conservatives won’t go Democrat. But they may stay home and not vote at all, which is what I was considering doing myself.

Palin appeals to me much more than John McCain does and off the scale compared to Obama. Yes she is weak in the experience department but no more so than Obama himself. As vice president she will learn what she needs to know so she can take over for McCain. I don’t think he will run for reelection due to his age.

So Sarah Palin will actually get the stay at home conservative vote to get out and go to the polls. I also think she will stir up some support from women who just want a woman in office. Plus the die hard Hilary supporters and probably Clinton herself probably hate Obama anyway. The best way for Hilary to be president is for Obama to lose so she can run against McCain in the next election.

As for Global warming it is NOT totally man made. There have been periods of climate change over the history of our planet. I guess cave men drove those SUV’s as well. I think all and all Sarah Palin is a good choice for the next Vice President of the United States.

As for Palin, I think Jim's got it right...but about the global warming comment you made. The statement that climate change happens in cycles is beyond simplistic. You don't drive your car into a tree just because wrecks happen every day, do you? An asteroid might fall from the sky tomorrow, incerate half of us and the other half freeze...still we don't go out with a giant asteroid magnet, do we?

Ok because I make a true statement about weather patterns it is simplistic? Good everyone will understand it.

Yes, because us women, we are just one monolithic entity. We don't vote according to policies or beliefs or ideals. We just vote for whatever candidate happens to have a vagina.

So insulting.

And you haven't actually said why you think Palin is a good choice. What is it that she has done?

How ironic. Those same people who were slamming Obama for his lack of experience are now Palin's biggest fans.

You Americans do my head in. If your choices only affected yourselves I would say to hell with you. Pick McCain. Pick Palin, who despite her vagina, is no voice for women. Unfortunately, the whole world has something to lose here. And all we can do is watch as your country makes the wrong choice.

Again.

She is a good choice because she is less Liberal than McCain, thus giving the ticket some balance.

"Palin, who despite her vagina, is no voice for women. "

Now who is saying women are "one monolithic entity"?

I'm a woman and I agree with her politics. Men and women poll almost the same when it comes to abortion-- in fact women want more restrictions. The women on the left don't get to neuter us by saying our views aren't "women's" views. The Republican party has many female members and we deserve a voice!

She's a feminist for life and so am I.

Despite all his cockiness, Joe Biden's got to be reaching more often for the Tums bottle this past weekend. He wasn't expecting a Sara Palin. Not in the least.

As for the perils of global warming, I can't help wondering how much of this is think-tank created, Al Gore whipped up and media hyped up. Anytime we want to talk about pollution, cars, etc. would anybody also care to talk about the natural pollution and exposure to awful diseases spread through the breathing of dung back in the good old pre-car days?

Allow me to rephrase that:

"Palin, who despite her vagina, is no voice for women who value their independence and right to bodily autonomy and privacy".

Randy, I suppose I was too kind...I should have said the interpretation was simplistic and idiotic. Ruby, you are right, many righties are flat giddy about Palin, just becuase of her far right beliefs. True, you have to sit and watch us possilbly make an even bigger mistake, because this time everyone should know better. I have to, potentially, sit here and watch it happen knowing what such a stupid decision can mean, knowing my vote wasn't enough to stop it....or, hopefully, I can smile and know we turned away from the cliff. We will see soon enough..

Thanks for showing your true colors Jeff, I had thought you could debate without being insulting. You guys have your wish, the conservative voice on this site is silenced.

I hope that Randy and any other conservative writer do not stop writing here. The whole poiit was to create a forum where we could disagree without being disagreeable.

Randy.....don't be so thin-skinned. You take my comment, twist the context, and refuse to even address that I am saying just because something happened before is no reason to make it happen ourselves.....you can't honestly drive down a major freeway or look at big factories and think that there isn't a cumulative bad effect or two...

I never once said man wasn't a cause of global warming. It was an interesting lesson to learn, writing for this kind of site. And Jim left the door open for me to post in the future and I may. I just don't need the blood pressure rise of fielding all these insults. I won''t post again in this thread to avoid looking like a drama queen.

Oh Randy, "all these insults"? Really? Sure the dialogue gets heated but I wouldn't say you are being personally insulted. As far as I can see the attack was aimed at you argument, not at your person. Wait until you get called a murderer and a slut.
Now that's an insult!

Actually, I feel that I may have been unfair to Governor Palin’s accomplishments. As has been pointed out by many supporters, she has been commander-in-chief of the Alaska National Guard, a force of about 4000 men and women and, as Cindy McCain pointed out,

"Alaska is the closest part of our continent to Russia. So, it's not as if she doesn't understand what's at stake here."

Even though Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell, adjutant general of the Alaska National Guard, has said that he and Sarah Palin play no role in national defense activities, even when they involve the Alaska National Guard, the fact remains that in the years that Governor Palin has been in office, the Russians have not invaded the United States or even seriously threatened an invasion.

So give her credit where it’s due.
