Sigh. Get over it. He won.

The Rabid Right, as exemplified by several writers on this site, does not or won’t accept election results. The result is hyperbole, hate and venom that overshadow reasonable and legitimate criticisms of the present administration’s policies. As a further result, their objections to those policies are relegated to the crazy-bin and not taken seriously, except by their fellow paranoids and sycophants.
There are common characteristics that identify the crazies, first and foremost of which is the constant use of cutesy nicknames which the writer believes constitutes wit (“B. Hussein Obama, “B.O.” – shades of the old Lifebuoy commercials – or the inventive “B.C. (B.S.)” in case one should be as language-challenged as the writer). Sometimes the writer really gushes:
Another common characteristic is the utilization of hyperbole, It’s not enough to disagree with the elected administration’s policies and, often, there is no reasonable and rational alternative that is suggested, the President is an “ungrateful idiot”,” [a] bottom feeder [who] only chooses the worst of the worst to fill his cabinet. No decent human being would want to be a part of such a sickening group. Those that aren't outright criminals have the ethics and morals of sewer rats”
.
Then there is this classic:
The haters cannot give any credit to President Obama; he’s a Muslim, not a natural-born citizen and, therefore is elections was constitutionally invalid, and on and on the whines continue, to the cheers of one or two likeminded souls. An example of how President Obama is always wrong, inadequate, and evil is the capture of an American ship by Somalian pirates. I wrote about this phenomenon:
When Somalia-based pirates attacked an American flagship and seized Richard Phillips, its captain, it was a gift from heaven. The bloggers went wild, generally agreeing that the capture of Captain Phillips was a major defeat for the President; it was his entire fault.
The pirates according to Warner Todd Houston, a common analysis: “These skinny, underfed, unorganized and ill-equipped pirates are making a fool of what is ostensibly the most powerful man in the world.” The consensus of the rabid ones was that the President was a weak, ineffectual, naïve and incompetent. He would not allow the Navy to do its job and rescue the Captain and kill the pirates. As another commentator whined, "Why were these pirates not deterred by the prospects of a response from the United States Navy?" Simple answer: Barack Obama is President and, as such, is in charge of the Navy. So, if the Navy doesn’t rescue the Captain, it is because the President has failed.
Then, as we all know, the Navy did rescue the Captain, killing three pirates in a dramatic and magnificent demonstration of the appropriate use of force (and marksmanship). Each and every crew member of the seized ship, the ship and cargo are safe, and the pirates are all dead or in custody. It’s still a poor showing by President Obama: he failed because he sat in Washington and didn’t “do anything”. What was he supposed to do beyond directing the Navy officials at the scene to act? Was Barack Obama expected to don a flight suit and pilot a jet to a carrier? Was he required to personally give the sharpshooters at the scene an order to shoot? Or make the shot himself?
As my favorite hater suggested,
To the haters: Get over it. One of the glories of the American political system, which you decry, is that we have elections and they mean something. I disagreed with many of George Bush’s decisions, among which as an unjustified (my adjective) war, interrogation techniques that are, now, nearly universally deemed illegal torture under United States law and the appointment of judges who do not share my values. Nonetheless, George Bush was my president; I did not vote for Mr. Bush but never considered him unpatriotic, never assaulted his character or morals, only his policies. Mr. Obama is your president. Disagree and next election vote against him but cool it with the names and slogans.
If you have constructive suggestions, alternatives perhaps, offer them up for public debate. If you keep up the hate, the wild and unsupported accusations, the silliness, no one outside of your small and marginalized group will take you seriously. Grow up.
I am aware that I will not make the haters and whiners to suddenly realize what this country stands for and how it works. They will still pray to their Deity for deliverance from evil. There is actually a preacher writing on Orble who joins in the hate, hardly a position that would have been chosen by Jesus.
But I wish they would be adults – and Americans.

“I always assumed that Joe Obiden [wow, that’s really clever] would be the foot-in-mouth champion of the new regime. Apparently I was mistaken. His boss, B.O. (B.S.) is beating him at his own game! Not only does the weasel in chief . . ."

Then there is this classic:
Maybe in 2010 or 2012 we'll be disgusted enough with slime that we'll elect real people to office and get rid of the trash that now is leading our country down the outhouse hole. Supporting and promoting evil is not the way to keep a country alive and well.

Another ship has been attacked by pirates, but that's small potatoes for an ideologue like B.O. (B.S.) since he got to look "presidential" by allowing the Navy SEALs to do their job and rescue Captain Richard Phillips. He could have done it on day one, but the drama queen dragged it out for five days.

I am mildly refreshed and challenged by your unique point of view as demonstrated in your latest post and the original hard copy submitted.
You truly make silence and the prospect of a frontal lobotomy a wonderful thing to look forward to. However, I took particular umbrage to your recent outburst of mindless drivel and miserly donations to my retirement fund for the following reasons.
It was:
[X] Illiterate
[X] Irrational
[X] Uninformed
[X] Written with a frequently used Q-tip
[X] Was obviously written while setting on a vomit covered toilet seat
[X] Written on both sides of abused toilet paper
[X] On the plus side-it was mildly pornographic
Your attention is drawn to the fact that:
[X] You contradicted professional scholars who know far more about
this topic than you will ever know in several lifetimes
[X] You contradicted yourself several times with flash backs
[X] You agreed with infamous internet kook Barack Hussein Obama II
[X] You obviously dribbled and belched several times during your lunch
[X] You assumed unwarranted spiritual, moral, intellectual and educational superiority
[X] You presented nothing of substance but babbled on about DIY experimentation on children
[X] Appeared to be a frequent practitioner of wanton mental masturbation
It is recommended that you:
[X] Seriously consider self immolation or mental help
[X] Devote your life to homeschooling jihadi’s in, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan
[X] Get an education in another country’s prison system
[X] Continue your English as a second language courses
[X] Stop your abusive DIY amateur experimentation on children and get help
[X] Start your reincarnation process early and feed yourself to a rabid bat
[X] Pay the standard $100 (USAD) You Annoy the Hell Out of Me fine
Questions to help understand your situation:
[X] Are you from the shallow end of the gene pool?
[X] Do you want fries with that whine?
[X] Are you bi-polar?
[X] Are you male and suffering from CSB (Critical Sperm Backup)?
[X] Are you transgendered and indecisive?
Save this message and review it often to determine your
progress becoming:
[X] A moving target for paint ball aficionados
[X] A semi-functional human being
[X] Integrated back into reality
[X] Loosed into the wilds with Willy and the Wonkas Band
If what you don't know can't hurt you, then-you're practically invulnerable.
You are hereby WARNED that future posting in the manner outlined above may void your standing as a contributing Gene-Pool Member (G-P M) and you will have to re-evolve and reapply in two generations.
On behalf of the Orble G-PM Committee thank you for taking the time to have someone read this warning to you and for your generous future monetary contributions.
Obama's ineptitude (record) speaks for itself

This is really good advice. I used to visit some of these sites but stopped because they really didn't give an alternative and as for debate there wasn't any.
I am pretty open about being left-leaning but that doesn't stop me reading columnists in our newspapers who are definitely on the right side because I like to get opposing views and weigh them up.
Some of the ones on Orble there is really no point.

The Republicans, 2008, just plain screwed it up. They do not have the super delegate tool so the primaries really count. They did not have a really strong candidate … at least I was not impressed with any single candidate. They lost a lot of votes by introducing a very polarizing Mrs. Palin into the mix (I think a lot of Republicans just stayed home on voting day). And, they really had no way out of the mud-bog of the Bush/Cheney eight year debacle without a really strong, strong candidate and I am not sure there was/is anyone in the party that could/can fill that bill.
So, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, et al, won the election and they allowed Mr. Obama along for the ride. With Mr. Spector’s bolt from the Republicans today, looks like they are going to have a free reign for the next couple of years. Hopefully the damage they do will be repairable down the road.
I don’t like what is happening in Washington today … we are throwing a lot of cash at problems hoping they will go away. I don’t think the problems are getting solved. I think this country has climbed out of the frying pan and into the fire and my grandkids are going to get burned big time. In all honesty though, I am not sure the Republicans could do any better … at least they are not offering any alternatives but I do think my grandkids would not be paying the bill … or would they? I don’t wish the Obama presidency failure, I hope it is successful but if not I hope they don’t screw it up so bad we can’t fix it when starting in 2013.
Perhaps some sort of moderate conservative party will evolve from all of this mess. I hope so, I need a political home and right now I don’t feel comfortable anywhere. The radical right needs to realize we have to work in the world and we can’t do it based on a literal interpretation of the Bible. I really think the moderates in this country out number either the radical left or the radical right or both sides combined, they are just not organized.
Again, just my feelings, unsubstantiated, unstudied, uneducated, off the cuff. Sorry for the long post. I hope I have not abused any blogging etiquette rules.
Funny, CNN just asked why people in Mexico were dying of the flu but no one in the US was dying … maybe because they have universal (rationed) health care in Mexico. But that is another topic for another day.

The larger, don't remember who, comment amused me. OF COURSE the deomcrats manipulated the public to get a democrat in. That's politics. The Rebublicans did the same. The Greens do the same. That's what a political campaign is.

Sure, and this comment was intended to heap praise on what I posted as a comment.
Alrighty then, I apologize for my knee jerk reaction. Just so you know, I wasn't being rude either, just stated my immediate point of view.
Further, the point of my original comment is as follows:

Round Politics
Unborn babies are still being kill only it will increase during this administration.
The troops are still in Iraq, and more are being send to Afghanistan.
The economy is still crashing, which got worse after dems took control of Congress, and now the white house.
No more spying on suspected terrorist threats from abroad, now they spy on Conservatives, Christians, Vets, and NRA members.
The majority of appointees were tax evaders, and liberal crooks.
We now have the largest deficit in history, and we are going deeper in the whole.
We can't even call a terrorist attack what is really is, now it is a man made disaster.
Now conservatives Christians, and returning vets are being labeled as terrorist by this administration.
B.O. has bowed and kissed the butt of terrorist states, all the while trash talking America.
B.O. and the dems want to close Gitmo, and release the kind terrorist on America, they may even be given welfare, free housing, and give a chance to further their education like bomb building 101.
Tax paying American are being ask to pay for things they were never given a chance to read, Congress didn't even read it. It was pushed through on the pretense of an emergency, but long after it's been signed, no one knows what was truly in it, and the money is still not being use, and the economy is getting worse where was the rush?
Now these are changes I believe to be anti-American, but apparently it's change liberals can believe in, but I guess you still believe in fairies too.

Why don't you give the save respect to the current Democrat leader as you would have done to a Republican? He is your President.
And you can hardly blame the recession or even depression on this current governement. In the US as in Australia, it has been brought about by giving corporations control of just about everything. When things went wrong they cried poor. Help Government please, they said.
These were the very ones who put down anyone or any institution that called on Government help before. At least the current regime is trying to do something about it even given the poisoned challis they were given.
Nothing is ever going to be perfect but at least some pretty good actions are being taken to address the situation.

Are you really suggesting that he didn't contribute to the problem?
If so, then make your argument, please.

Why should I respect the man? He's a blight on the highest office in the US - I wonder if he is still doing the ganja?
What is your argument for my unconditional support? Please, I'd like to hear it.

The Middle Ground
You are completely right, of course, there are many incurable zealots on both sides, and I think they are naturally drawn to blogging because they cannot get someone to put up with their endless rants in person. My first urge -- probably a common one -- was to talk them out of their extreme positions. Of course, I soon found out that this approach is completely pointless. And more importantly, I have strong suspicions that there are some who are truly mentally ill, because their beliefs at times cross over into delusions. The last thing I want to do is aggravate their symptoms, so I have adopted a new policy of just leaving them alone.
My theory is that this not the result of people being unable to get over the election, but rather the target du jour of people who need to always have something to demonize. I will bet you that they see the entire world as good versus evil, not just politics. You see it already in their religious views, the way they treat others on the blogs, their views on everything. I don't think that there is one area in which you can disagree with certain bloggers without being deemed "evil."
Fortunately, they really are an insignificant part of the world and the discussion. Elections are decided by those in the middle, as is actual governance. As much as I would like everyone to participate in the dialogue, I have decided to accept people's limitations. There are enough really good, rational and fair bloggers out there (I hope) that we can have interesting discussions without have to involve the extremes.
