Wealth Redistribution

Wealth redistribution is being called for by most of the Liberals in this country as they push it towards communism. I just never understood the urge to take money and property away from people who earned it. And then give it to people who did nothing for it other than hold their hand out.

If a person makes the money legally then they have a right to keep it, that is a fairly simple concept to grasp. This country will be destroyed by liberal plans like this. If people know that no matter what, they can’t get ahead, then they won’t try to do so.

Rich people tend to create jobs, money like crap rolls down hill. If a person builds a company he has to hire other people to work in it. Why build a company and create jobs if you don’t get to keep your money, made?

If there has to be wealth redistribution then let it be money saved by getting rid of government waste. Or when they catch big businessmen making money through fraud or other illegal means, THEN take their money and homes, and put their ass on the street. Or when drug money is seized then use it for educational or job programs, rather then just putting it in whatever government coffer it gets hidden in.

American is still a place where you CAN improve your way of life and even strike it rich with hard work and some luck. Class envy will end that chance if we allow wealth redistribution to take place.

I would rather have a $30,000 a year job and know some people make in a year, what I will make over my lifetime. That would be better than knowing everyone in the country that can even find a job is making $5,000 a year and can’t feed our kids.

Taking away money and property from people who earned it, is as Anti American as it gets. Many people have died in this world trying to fight communism. Yet we stand on the brink of choosing to become a socialist state.

Hey Randy great post, America is a place where you can start with nothing and end up wealthy. But if the liberals have their way there will be no reason to work hard anymore as it will not benefit you.

Yeah they want people to start wealthy and end up with nothing!

Nope, Randy, it is neither Communism nor a distribution of wealth in the manner of which you write. I am concerned over the basic unfairness of having the government free to grant welfare to the wealthy and powerful all the while scorning the programs designed to make certain the rest of us live reasonably safe and well, allow our kids to eat affordable balanced meals (I cited “chapter and verse” in a previous post

Really Long Link

Why has the middle class become threatened? Mostly because the members have been both ignored and squeezed by Republican and nominally conservative governments at all levels.

Randy, I’m certain that you will agree that taxes are raised to provide government services, services we want and need. See, for example,

Really Long Link

All I, and nearly all progressives, ask and demand is that taxes be imposed fairly. The wealthy should pay a higher proportion of income than the middle. This part of the social contract that demands that society, as a whole, look out for the least among us, the poor, the very young, the very old, the infirm.

That’s not Communism; it is human decency, I had thought this was one of the Christian principles of which so many are no proud.

I agree that taxes are raised to pay for more services. However my take is that lower government spending and the taxes can be lowered, or at least left alone.

And the wealthy DO pay more than the rest of us. And trust me I am no where near wealthy.

My big beef with the conservatives is tax breaks for business's that send jobs overseas.

Hey Randy any company that sends jobs overseas should have to pay double taxes.

I think so as well tax it on the way out and nail the products on the way back in for sale in the United States.

So Paris Hilton "earns" her money? So Alex Rodriquez "earns" millions just playing a game (albeit well) So the CEO who might make more in a day (not a year) than the 30,000 a year person makes in a lifetime, quite possibly while running a company into the ground? A sense of equitablility does not mean that everyone will make 5,000 per year. Stop spreading fear of social change...

Randy, who said liberals will "take money and property away from people who earned it. And then give it to people who did nothing for it other than hold their hand out." I keep hearing complaints about this supposed goal to "redistribute the wealth," but have never seen such a plan laid out.

As Jim explained, social services are not a bad thing. What is so wrong about everyone paying in to pay for services that everyone needs? Don't we already do that for things like police, fire departments, public schools, etc.?

Jim's comment, "That’s not Communism; it is human decency, I had thought this was one of the Christian principles of which so many are no proud. " says it all.

All anyone has to do is read Obama's plans. He's not proposing taking all the money made and distributing it equally to everyone. He's proposing providing basic services to everyone. AND - he's proposing paying for most, if not all, of it by lowering unnecessary government spending. Read his plans. Read McCain's plans. Compare them and see what the differences are. I think you'll be surprised.
