Why am I here? Certainly not for the money!
September 5th 2007 20:24
It is obvious that I do not submit these posts in an effort to become wealthy. I have checked my statistics over the period since my first submission in July, 2007; my two blogs come out to be between 400 and 500 in ranking, readership not very high in spite of my begging four children, 14 grandchildren and assorted relatives and friends to, as we used to say about Boston elections, vote early and often.
Thus far, according to my AdSense account, I have earned 19˘! On another site, in just about a year, I have brought to the family bank account $55 monthly, more or less. I have no idea if these meager results are typical but I cannot help but believe that others do far better.
I make it a point to glance at all new post to Orble. Most of the posts concern topics that do not interest me at all. And that’s the whole point. I write on subjects that interest and fascinate me and if everyone else in the world is less than fascinated or less interested, that's the way it goes.
I write for the fun of writing, of using words to tell a story in the same manner as an artist uses oils and watercolors. I write for the ego trip, certainly, of seeing my output in print, served up for the public to view. I write for my enjoyment in thinking of something that interests me, doing research and then trying to induce others to share my interest. I thoroughly enjoy jousting with those holding contrary views. In short, I am having a wonderful time.
I might be able to write more, perhaps on more popular topics and ones that would cause Google to take more notice, and thereby earn more, but that sounds like work and I’m retired.

Money, although needed in our society, is not a true source of happiness. Enjoy your hobby and live life!!!!

You earned, on your other blog, more in one month than I have earned in about 9, here, 19c sounds like you're a star to me.
I think it is time I moved on, I am putting far more into what I'm doing than I could ever hope to get out of it.
It is a pleasure to read the work of someone as intelligent and learned as yourself, except your opinions on abortion.
When I read of the earnings of others, I cringe, and think what the h.... am I hanging around for?
No, I do not share the opinions of others, about the joys of what they are doing.
Your circumstances may be a little different. I came as part of an experiment, I have failed, miserably, the only thing I have enjoyed is knowing what a lot my computer art images have done for me in stretching my brain. That is worthwhile, and blogging has kept me up to the mark but I can't see that lasting much longer.
I can't help wondering just how long you will be here.
I am of the opinion that for those with serious intent, blogging is not the way to go.
Thanks for some intelligent work.

As long as you get enjoyment from writing and being published, the what's the harm in continuing, especially if you are retired? Consider your 19c a bonus and buy yourself a Sherbet Bomb!
Nice post, Jim. I'LL LOOK OUT FOR THEM IN THE FUTURE!

You think you're badly off? So far i've earned $0.00. I'm hoping it's because I haven't clicked the right thing somewhere, or have clicked the wrong thing somewhere. I really can't face the possibility yet that that's all I'm worth as a writer!!

You check your adsense account? I haven't been there since I signed up for one!
I prefer to just let the thousands pile up, hahahahaha!!!
